Linkin Park are 'inspired' by new album: 'It's taking shape as we record it'

'In The End' rockers Linkin Park are currently working on a brand new album and the members have revealed that it'll be drastically different to what their fans are probably expecting.

The band's Mike Shinoda recently shared a snapshot from the studio (pictured above left) and accompanied it with some teasing details about the musical direction of their forthcoming new record:

"As most Linkin Park fans know, the sound of each album is usually quite different from the last. The new album is no exception. But as usual, the album's sound twists and turns as it is created, so any attempt at estimating what it sounds like today would be silly."

"The moment I tell you it sounds like 'X', the songs will automatically take a drastic turn and evolve into something different within a week. But what I can tell you is I'm inspired. We're inspired."

Linkin Park have been confirmed as one of the headlining acts for this year's Download Festival where they will perform their 2000 album, 'Hybrid Theory', in full.
