Gary Barlow 'surprised' by timing of Robbie Williams album release

Gary Barlow has admitted his "surprise" at the release date of Robbie Williams' latest record.

Take That released 'III' on December 1 after weeks of promotion and build-up.

However, on Friday (November 28) former member Williams revealed that he was going to unleash 'Under The Radar' - a collection of unreleased material - on the same day.

Speaking to The Sun, Take That's Barlow said that he was a bit taken aback by the timing of the surprise release.

He said: "I only found out about that on Sunday [November 30]. It's funny, because we have obviously spent a lot of time in the studio with Rob. About two years ago he said, 'I've got all these songs and I don't know what to do with them so I'm going to put them on an album one day'.

"So it's not a surprise he's doing it, but it is a surprise it's out this week. He played us most of them and there are some cracking songs because whatever Rob writes is good."
