Will Young has admitted that he wants to take a break from music.

The Pop Idol star told Bang Showbiz that he is looking to take three months off work - but would like to extend that to a year, if possible.

He reckons it is "really important" to take time off and is looking forward to the break. He said:

"I want to take three months off at least. Ideally, I want to take a year off, but I don't know if I can, so three months. I absolutely love taking time off. It's really important. After a few days off, it's amazing how lazy you can become. It's slightly terrifying. I used to have a problem switching off, but now I don't have a problem at all. "

Young also spoke of his wish to go travelling, citing Africa as one of his favourite places to go. He added:

"I like travelling, I like going to see different places, so it's still interesting. My favourite continent is Africa. I think the people of the Cameroon are amazing and beautiful. Namibia is stunning, and Mozambique is really beautiful, so it would be hard to pick between those three. They're just amazing people in Africa. I'm hoping to go again. There's something really magical about Africa."
