Conor Maynard on dealing with screaming fans

Conor Maynard has opened up about how much his life has changed since becoming a pop star.

The 19-year-old, who is set to debut at No.1 in the UK tomorrow with his debut album, ‘Contrast,’ said that his day-to-day life now consists of being surrounded by hordes of screaming girl fans:

“When I wrote my first hit Can’t Say No, I was taking the mick out of pop stars who were surrounded by screaming girls. But that’s the reality of my life now, and it can be pretty full-on at times.

“When I read interviews with pop stars saying they had underwear thrown at them, I used to think: 'No way does that happen in real life.' Well, it turns out it does – and a lot of those undies have phone numbers written on them, too. That’s hilarious, but it won’t stop me being focused on making the best music I can.”

The ‘Vegas Girl’ singer, who recently claimed he might have to move house due to overzealous fans, went on to admit that it’s sometimes difficult to cope with all the interest in his personal life:

“Most fans know where to draw the line – I’m happy to say “Hi” to fans outside radio stations, and having so many followers on Twitter and Facebook is so cool. I’d be worried if I was only getting three tweets a day.

“But there are some fans who camp outside my house, and that’s a bit much.”
