Swedish House Mafia explain reasons behind split

Swedish House Mafia have explained why they decided to split up after just one studio album.

The DJ supergroup, who announced last month that they would be disbanding after completing their current series of live shows, told Rolling Stone magazine that they felt the band had run its natural course:

Steve Angello said: “We just decided that we reached a point where we don't know what the next move would be. We always like the challenge. And we don't like to repeat ourselves. We just felt like it was time.”

The Greek-Swedish producer, who alongside Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell has amassed a fortune of over $14 million over the past year according to a Forbes magazine rich-list published earlier this week, went on to deny that there was any animosity between the trio.

“We're like brothers. We're still here. It's not like anybody has died. We've had beyond our dreams and we've come very, very far. We just felt like, 'let's stop touring.'"
