Melanie C has been crowned Tesco's Celebrity Mum of the Year.

The singer gave birth to daughter Scarlet in 2009 and she topped a poll launched by the supermarket chain to find Britain's top famous mother.

The Spice Girl was honoured with the prize at an event in London on Sunday (February 17), where she told the Daily Express that having a child has given her more self-confidence. She said:

"I am so much happier, more confident and courageous and it's all thanks to Scarlet. Being with my family is the most important thing in my life. It's sometimes difficult to find a balance with work and other commitments, so I make sure I treasure every second."

Chisholm added: "Being a mum might not be easy, but it's definitely the most rewarding job in the world. There are millions of inspirational mums out there, doing incredible things to help others. It's fantastic to be involved with something that celebrates this."
