Scottish singer Susan Boyle was happy to let her style team "loose on [her]" after storming the charts with her debut album.

Boyle found fame on hit TV talent show Britain’s Got Talent, where she blew the nation away with her unexpected rendition of musical number I Dreamed A Dream.

The 51-year-old star appeared on stage looking frumpy and unkempt, however as soon as she hit the big time her team suggested that they change up her look.

Boyle was grateful for the glamour injection and explained to BBC Radio 4: “I found it a pleasant challenge so I just let somebody loose on me. I just went for it, what would any other girl do? I wear nice things because it makes me feel good, it makes me feel more confident."

Boyle hit headlines for her reported temper flares, but the star insists she now has this under control.

She revealed: “I have been known to blow a gasket now and then but I don’t think I’m a diva! I’ve learned to control my temper now because I’m a bit more mature."
