Madonna ignores police warnings to drop gun props at Edinburgh show

Madonna last night ignored police warnings by brandishing a six-shooter pistol and machine gun during her gig at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.

The superstar had been advised by local police not to perform with the same props she’d used throughout her MDNA tour, with the Daily Record reporting that the show would have been cancelled if she did.

However, the concert went ahead without any interruptions, although a spokeswoman for Mothers Against Guns argued that the routine was ill-judged following this week’s mass shooting in Aurora:

She said: "Madonna and her dancers using replica guns was always in bad taste but given what happened in Colorado it is even worse. She should know better."

The Queen of Pop had surprised some fans by running through a quick on-stage rehearsal several hours before the main show, where she also made reference to Bruce Springsteen’s recent curfew-breaking gig:

"I'm just running through some songs early. It's great to be here in Scotland. Due to your laws here they might pull the plug on me so if they cut us off suddenly, write to your local MP."
