Kaiser Chiefs turn down Bowie lyrics

Kaiser Chiefs have revealed that they had legend David Bowie write some lyrics for one of the songs on their new album, but turned them down because “they just weren’t right.”

The band’s new album, ‘The Future Is Medieval’, features a fan-compiled tracklist and a production credit from legendary producer Tony Visconti who worked on some of the greatest records by the likes of T. Rex and David Bowie.

Songwriter Nick Hodgson revealed to News Of The World that the band asked Bowie for a hand while finishing off a song.

"Tony texted David asking for his suggestions to finish off a verse [on 'Man On Mars'] and he came up with a couple of lines," Hodgson recalled.

"I'm such a big Bowie fan I can't believe I'm saying this, but they just weren't right, so I've missed out on a Hodgson/Bowie writing credit. Gutted!"
