Muse nearly recorded Olympic duet with Elton JohnMuse have revealed that they nearly wrote an Olympic song with Elton John. The band released the track 'Survival' in June as the official London 2012 song, but Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has admitted that it could have been a whole lot different. He revealed that Elton John was originally the "director of music" for this summer's Games and wanted to duet with Muse for the Olympic song. However, Bellamy said that John ultimately clashed with the organisers, meaning Muse had to go it alone. He said: "Believe it or not, Elton John gave us a call and wanted to write a song for the Olympics. At one time Elton John was actually the director of the music for the Olympics. He contacted us and we thought, 'This is far out! We're going to do a song for the Olympics with Elton John?!'." Muse's Olympic track 'Survival' will feature on the band's upcoming new studio album 'The 2nd Law', which is due to be released in October.
